The Steppin' Out T-Shirt

The Steppin' Out t-shirt has become a true collector's item over the festival's 29-year history.  Local artists have created unique festival designs, and t-shirt sales support the festival, other events,  and various causes supported by Downtown Blacksburg, Inc.

CONGRATULATIONS TO LOCAL ARTIST GEORGE WILLS.  His design for the 30th Anniversary of Steppin' Out (August 6 and 7, 2010) was selected by the Steppin' Out T-Shirt Committee!

Steppin’ Out features over 185 artists and crafts people from around the United States selling unique handcrafted items – jewelry, pottery, textiles, metal work, basketry, stained & fused glass, yard art, fine art, furniture, toys, artisan foods and so much more! Street performances make the scene magical….you could be greeted by a visiting Jedi Master, or have your wishes granted by the Blue Fairy.

Downtown Blacksburg merchants also hold their much-awaited final clearance sidewalk sales during Steppin’ Out. Great merchandise goes at bargain-basement discounts. And those festival foods you love are provided by downtown restaurants. Admission is free. Town of Blacksburg metered parking is all free and Blacksburg Transit provides free shuttles to get you there without the hassles. Bring your friends. Bring your family. But please don’t bring your pets.  A canine care space is always available!

Three stages of live performance make Steppin’ Out one of this region’s premiere arts events. The Main Stage, sponsored by The Roanoke Times, provides continuous live music on College Avenue, both Friday and Saturday. The Acoustic Stage, sponsored by WSLS10, brings folk, contemporary, and utterly unique sounds to the festival area of Main and Lee Streets. The Community Stage, sponsored by The National Bank of Blacksburg, showcases local & regional performers from cloggers to belly dancers. This is also where children’s activities are centered. The Community Stage is located in Roanoke Street. Complete performance schedules will be posted a few weeks prior to the festival on this website.
